Affordable Skincare Favourites
Skincare is such an important thing when it comes to beauty and it can often be expensive but there are actually so many amazing skincare products that are really affordable and I wanted to share a few of my favourites.
Before I get started I should probably mention that, in general, I would say that I have sensitive combination skin. I get slightly oily in my t-zone but I have quite dry cheeks. I used to have quite a few spots on my forehead, nothing too bad but I did have a few, however I think that using the following products seems to have helped clear my skin and I will go further into my skincare routine in another post.
My first favourite is the Simple Kind to Skin Moisturising Facial Wash. The reason that I love this face wash so much is that I know that I can always rely on it and I haven’t found anything that can beat it so far. It is meant to be around £4 but I usually always manage to find it on special offer somewhere and it is half price in Superdrug right now but you can just get it from Savers which is what I usually do because it’s usually much cheaper there. I would say that this face wash is great for every skin type, I know that it does say that it’s moisturising but I would say that even if you do have oily skin it would still work. One of my favourite things about this face wash is the fact that it foams up so well and the smallest amount goes a long way. It also works really great with my cleansing brush which is really important for me. The face wash does not feel too harsh at all and is great for people like me who have sensitive skin and my face does still feel nice and refreshed after using it. I am not saying that this is a miracle face wash that has cleared my skin overnight but it still is my favourite face wash and I always find myself reaching for it, even more than any higher end ones and I would definitely recommend it.
The second product that is one of my affordable favourites is the Olay Regenerist cleansing brush. I can honestly say that this brush has helped to make my skin so much better and I’m pretty sure that it’s because of the fact that it genuinely does deeply cleanse the skin and it does a great job at exfoliating it too. The brush costs around £40 in Boots but it is currently on sale for £26 which I know is still not super cheap but compared to most other cleansing brushes it is a lot cheaper and it really is worth the money. You can also find the brush on Amazon. It comes with one head, the cleansing system that the head attaches onto, batteries and an Olay face wash. You can buy replacement heads for the brush which cost roughly just under £10 for two heads in Boots and Amazon. The brush has two speeds, the first one is for a lighter exfoliation and the second one is for a more full on exfoliation, personally I find that I rarely use the second speed due to the fact that I find it to be a bit too harsh but if you are looking for some serious exfoliation then you could give it a go. This brush really gets rid of absolutely every single bit of makeup and I know for sure that my skin is going to be clean after using the brush.
The next skincare product that I am desperate to talk about is apple cider vinegar toner. Technically, this is not a product that you can buy in a drugstore or in fact any shop but it is super easy to make (I promise it really will only take two minutes at the most to make). The only things you need to make this toner is water and pure organic apple cider vinegar which you can buy almost anywhere for a really cheap price, I got mine from Holland & Barett for about £2. I like to mix half water and half vinegar together in a suitable container, you can do more or less depending how sensitive your skin is, the more vinegar the stronger it is. After this, you are good to go and you have your incredibly cheap home made toner. This is another product that has helped make my skin a lot better and you can tell that it actually does work. There are many benefits of using Apple cider vinegar on the skin such as reducing spots, wrinkles and acne scars and it helps get rid of dead skin cells. The only downside of this toner is that it smells really bad but personally, this doesn’t bother me too much due to the fact that I only use it at night.
Another one of my skincare favourites is the Johnson’s Baby Soothing Naturals Intense Moisture Cream. This moisturiser only costs about £2 in Boots and most other shops and the main reason I love it is because it is very nice and moisturising however it sinks in incredibly fast which is especially important in the morning if I you want to do your makeup straight after you have moisturised your face. It moisturises the skin without leaving your face feeling sticky and clogged up. It is a great moisturiser for people with sensitive skin because as you can tell by the name it is targeted at babies.
I wasn’t sure whether I should put another moisturiser in this post but in the end I decided that I needed to mention the Lush Dream Cream because it is just such an amazing product. It costs £13.50 for a massive 240g tub which, if you are using it for just your face, should last you for a while. My skin always feels and looks so much better after using this cream and I can just tell that it is so good for my skin. It soothes my skin and leaves it feeling moisturised and smooth and I think this is because of the fact it contains oat milk which has been used for centuries to cool hot damaged skin and to treat eczema. In addition to this it also smells really nice and relaxing and you can use it as a body lotion to which is what I thought it was at first because I was originally a bit sceptical about using this on my face because of my the fact that it is meant to be a hand and body lotion but it turned it that it actually helped my sensitive skin. If you have oily skin then this is probably not the best for you but this is an amazing moisturiser for people with dry skin and if you are like me and have normal to combination skin then I would recommend using it as a night time moisturiser.
The final product that I am going to talk about is the Beauty Formulas Charcoal Mask. I can’t even start to tell you how good this face mask has been for my skin and how well it really does work. The reason I got this face mask in the beginning was simply because I wanted to try out a new face mask because and I just wanted something cheap and cheerful to give myself a pamper night and I didn’t want anything too expensive due to the fact that my skin once had a bad reaction to a face mask. At the start I wasn’t even sure if this face mask would be any good considering the fact that I got it out of Savers for only £1. After buying this face mask the first time, I am now onto my second bottle and even if this face mask cost £10 I would still buy it again. The face mask is fun to use and it makes me feel so happy when I put it on. It does have a slight tingling sensation when you apply it and it makes your skin feel a bit tight but that doesn’t really annoy me because it makes me feel as though it is actually working. Also, if you have very dry skin then I wouldn’t recommend this face mask as it would probably just make it even more dry but it does work very well to dry out and eliminate any spots. For £1 I would say that you might aswell give this face mask a go because you really can’t go far wrong at this price.
These are only a few of my affordable skincare favourites but I have so many more that I would love to share in another post. I think this goes to show that having great skin doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
