Vivienne Westwood Mayfair Orb Jewellery

Over the past year or so I have received a few pieces of jewellery from Vivienne Westwood and today I would like to show you them. Originally the famous fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood, was only a clothing label however as her brand began to grow and develop she started designing accessories and jewellery too. The Vivienne Westwood jewellery is silver or gold plated and contains Swarovski crystals, so it is in effect costume jewellery. You may think it is quite expensive for costume jewellery, for example, the brooch below has an RRP of £125, however, I love the way it is so dramatic and eye-catching. When I wear a piece of this jewellery I always feel good in it.

As you can see, all of the jewellery that I have from Vivienne Westwood is in the classic orb design which I think looks really nice and also quite unique and very easily recognisable. Up until recently I never actually knew what the orb meant however I recently discovered that the Vivienne  Westwood orb is meant to resemble the Sovereign Orb which is one of the British crown jewels that was made for the coronation of King Charles II. The jewelled part of the orb supposedly links to Westwood’s anchored position in the British fashion industry. The ‘planetary’ circle around the orb is supposed to give it a bit of a more punk and modern twist.

Sovereign Orb

The Sovereign Orb is a gold sphere with gemstones and pearls in the middle and a gold cross at the top. It is  a religious symbol that represents the Monarch’s role as Defender of Faith.

My first ever piece of Vivienne Westwood jewellery was these rose gold plated earrings. I love the way these earrings look and the size of them is great because they are big enough to stand out and be quite noticeable but they aren’t too big or dangly so you can wear them with most outfits and they won’t feel too heavy to wear on a daily basis.

The next item of Vivienne Westwood jewellery that I have is a rose gold plated bracelet which matches the earrings. I have very small wrists and this bracelet still fits me very well which is great because one of the reasons I tend not to wear bracelets so much is because they never usually fit my wrist. I think this bracelet is quite small made so if you do have larger wrists it would be worth checking out the sizing, although it is meant to be tight and not move around too much when it is on which is another thing that I like about it.

The final piece of jewellery from Vivienne Westwood is this silver plated brooch, filled with lots of sparking Swarovski crystals. The brooch is actually my mum’s however I really like it (and thankfully she’s good at sharing!), I think it is great how it can effortlessly change any outfit and make it look so much better. It looks fantastic with a blazer or pinned on to a top or scarf and it also goes with so many outfits.
